01Photo, signature and the exact file-size rules

Filling in a government or job application form

Every Indian exam portal sets its own rules: the photograph must be a certain pixel size, the signature has to be a separate file, and both must come in under a hard limit in kilobytes. This is where most people get stuck. Start with Passport Size Photo Maker, which crops to standard document sizes. Prepare the signature separately in Signature Resizer. Then deal with the file size — if the form says "under 20 KB", use Compress Image to Exact KB, which targets a hard limit; if you are compressing a whole folder, Image Compressor is the better fit. Photo taken on a phone and saved as .HEIC that the portal refuses? HEIC to JPG/PNG Converter turns it into a JPG.

Forms often want the photo and signature inside a single PDF. Use Images to PDF first, then PDF Compress if the result is too large.

02From the question paper to the seating plan

Running an exam or a classroom

Most of the effort in conducting an exam goes into paperwork rather than teaching. Paper Generator prints ruled, graph and dot-grid sheets; Worksheet Generator produces maths and handwriting practice. For a multiple-choice paper, OMR Sheet Generator builds a printable answer sheet with a roll-number bubble grid, including NEET and JEE presets. And the job that used to take an evening by hand — Exam Seating Arrangement Planner — turns roll-number ranges and room sizes into a seating chart where no two students from the same class sit next to each other, along with room-wise attendance lists and a door notice for every hall.

Need to pick someone fairly in class? Random Name Picker has a no-repeat raffle mode and shows live odds.

03Payslips, invoices, rent receipts, resumes

Payroll, HR and business documents

These tools are India-first, and they are the part of ToolAdda that global alternatives simply do not cover. Salary Slip Generator produces payslips with EPF, ESI and state-wise professional tax, and supports bulk CSV. To send a bill, Offline Invoice Generator gives you the full document — letterhead, HSN codes, shipping, round-off and the amount in words; if you only need to check one figure, GST Calculator is enough. For an HRA claim there is Rent Receipt Generator. Job hunting? Resume Builder exports a text-based PDF or DOCX, and ATS Resume Checker scores a resume you already have against a specific job description.

Neither the Resume Builder nor the ATS Checker uses an LLM. Scoring is based on keyword matching and how cleanly the file parses, not on an AI opinion.

04Loans, investments and everyday calculators

Working out the money

EMI Calculator handles the general loan case; for a house or a car, Home Loan Calculator and Car Loan Calculator add domain-specific inputs. On the investment side there are SIP Calculator, PPF Calculator, FD Calculator and RD Calculator. All of them display figures in the Indian lakh and crore format, and wherever a statutory rate is applied the page carries a "last reviewed" date and leaves the rate editable — because those rates change by state and by establishment.

05Merge, split, compress, protect, redact

Working with PDFs

PDF Tools Hub opens everything in one place for day-to-day work. The common operations are straightforward — PDF Merge, PDF Split, PDF Compress, PDF Rotate and Add Watermark to PDF. Two of them are routinely confused, so to be explicit: PDF Extract pulls out the pages you choose (despite the name it does not extract text), whereas PDF Split divides a whole document by a rule. And when something hidden has to be genuinely gone rather than merely obscured, you want Redact PDF, because it destroys the underlying text.

PDF Password Remover is only for a PDF whose password you already know. It cannot crack or bypass an unknown one.

06Resize, crop, compress, remove backgrounds

Editing photos and images

The basics — Image Resizer, Image Crop Tool, Image Rotate Tool, Image Blur Tool and Grayscale Image Converter — all run inside the browser, which means your photo is never uploaded anywhere. Image Background Remover strips the background, Image Color Picker reads an exact hex value out of any image, and Poster Printer spreads one image across several A4 sheets to make a large poster. One tool worth knowing for privacy reasons: EXIF Metadata Remover strips GPS coordinates and camera details out of a photo before you post it.

Image Blur Tool hides something visually. If it matters that the hidden content cannot be recovered, do not use an image — use Redact PDF instead.

07From one code to a full printed sheet

QR codes, barcodes and labels

For a plain code, QR Code Generator is enough. If you need branding — a logo, custom colours, different styles — use Custom QR Code Maker. For products and inventory, Barcode Generator supports seven barcode types. And when you need a hundred rather than one, QR & Barcode Label Sheet Generator lays them out from a bulk CSV onto A4 label sheets. To read a code, QR Code Scanner works from either the camera or an uploaded image.

08From a notepad to realistic handwriting

Writing, text and social media

Online Notepad gives you somewhere to write without an account, and keeps working offline after the first visit. For everyday text work there are Case Converter, Character Counter and Text Sorter. For social there are Fancy Font Generator, Emoji & Kaomoji Picker and LinkedIn Post Previewer, which shows exactly where a post gets cut off by "see more" in the feed. Two stand out: Text to Handwriting Converter converts typed text into convincing handwriting (twelve styles, ruled paper, multi-page PDF, no watermark), and WhatsApp Chat Analyzer turns an exported chat into message statistics, activity charts and response times — entirely inside your browser.

09JSON, tokens, regex, timestamps

Everyday development work

Moving data between formats is the most common task: JSON Formatter, JSON to YAML, JSON to CSV Converter, JSON to XML Converter, CSV to JSON Converter, XML to JSON Converter and JSON to TypeScript, which generates TypeScript interfaces from a JSON sample. For debugging, JWT Debugger decodes and verifies an existing token while JWT Encoder mints a new one. Regex Tester tests a pattern live, Cron Expression Generator makes cron syntax readable, and Epoch / Unix Timestamp Converter takes the guesswork out of timestamps.

10Shadows, layouts, animations

CSS and interface design

Shadow Generator builds layered CSS shadows that look far more natural than a default box-shadow. To actually understand a layout, CSS Flexbox & Grid Playground shows every property changing live. For current styles there are CSS Glassmorphism UI Builder, CSS Neumorphic Element Designer and Bento Grid Generator, and scroll-driven animations come from Scroll Animation Keyframe Builder. All of them emit CSS you can paste straight into a stylesheet.

11Audits, DNS, redirects, tracking

Websites, SEO and networking

Website SEO Checker runs an on-page audit of a URL, Sitemap Generator builds a sitemap, and robots.txt Generator & Tester writes and tests a robots.txt. To check link structure, Dofollow & Nofollow Link Checker classifies every link from its rel attribute. On the network side there are DNS Lookup and DNS Propagation Checker, which compares four independently operated resolvers rather than faking a world map of locations. Campaign links come from UTM Builder.

These networking tools have to reach the internet, so do not describe them as fully private. Almost everything else on the site runs entirely in your browser.

12Generate, hash, convert, conceal

Passwords, keys and privacy

Password Generator creates strong passwords and Password Strength Checker tells you how long an existing one would hold up. Hash Generator MD5/SHA produces MD5 and SHA checksums. If you work on servers, SSH Key Generator creates key pairs, and PEM to PPK Converter and PPK to PEM Converter convert between the OpenSSH and PuTTY formats. For privacy, EXIF Metadata Remover strips location data out of a photo, and Image Steganography hides a message inside an image.

PEM to PPK Converter handles unencrypted RSA keys only and outputs PPK v2. It will not convert Ed25519 or ECDSA keys, which are what ssh-keygen produces by default today.

13From the periodic table to decay curves

Chemistry and science

Interactive Periodic Table is interactive and carries the properties of every element. Chemical Equation Balancer balances equations step by step using exact integer arithmetic rather than guessing. Electron Configuration Builder builds the configuration for any element, Half-Life Calculator & Radioactive Decay Simulator draws a live decay curve, and 3D Molecular Structure Viewer lets you rotate molecules in 3D.

14Classics that load instantly

Taking a break

No sign-up, no download, no loading screen: 2048, Snake Game, Sudoku, Minesweeper, Tic Tac Toe and Ludo. If you just need to settle something there is Coin Flip — and Random Name Picker gives a fair spin for a classroom or a giveaway.

15Where two tools seem to do the same thing

Telling apart the tools that look alike

Some tools overlap on purpose. Picking the wrong one wastes time or, in a couple of cases, leaves sensitive content recoverable — so here is the difference, stated plainly.

The pairHow they differ
Image Compressor vs Compress Image to Exact KBBoth can target a size in kilobytes. Reach for the Compressor when the job is a batch or a whole folder, or when the input is PNG, GIF, BMP or AVIF. Reach for Compress to Exact KB when a single file has to clear a hard limit on a government or job portal and that is the only requirement.
PDF Extract vs PDF SplitExtract pulls out a chosen subset of pages, and can emit them in the order you clicked. Split divides a whole document by a rule — every page, every N pages, a range, or odd/even. Note that despite its name PDF Extract does not pull out text, and no tool on the site performs OCR on a scanned PDF.
Image Blur Tool vs Redact PDFImage Blur is a visual edit — the content is hidden from view. Redact PDF destroys the underlying text and content. For anything where the hidden material must be unrecoverable rather than merely hard to see, Redact PDF is the correct answer.
PDF Compress vs Flatten PDFCompress reduces file size. Flatten makes form fields and annotations non-editable. Two different jobs, however similar the names sound.
JWT Debugger vs JWT EncoderThe Debugger decodes and verifies an existing token. The Encoder mints a new one.
GST Calculator vs Offline Invoice GeneratorThe calculator is a single-amount GST split — add or extract, CGST+SGST or IGST. The Invoice Generator is a full document: line items, HSN, shipping, round-off, amount in words and a PDF. Use the calculator to check one figure; use the generator to send a bill.
Resume Builder vs ATS Resume CheckerThe Builder writes a new resume and exports a text-based PDF or DOCX. The Checker scores a resume you already have against a job description. Neither uses an LLM.
EMI Calculator vs Home Loan CalculatorThe EMI Calculator is the general loan tool. The Home Loan and Car Loan calculators add domain-specific inputs.

16Cost, privacy, offline use and regional scope

Frequently asked questions

Are all the tools really free?

Yes. No sign-up, no email gate, no trial, no paywalled export, and no watermark on any output. There is no limit on how many times you can use them.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

Almost every tool runs entirely in your browser — the file is read with the browser's File API, processed in JavaScript or WebAssembly on your own device, and written straight back to your downloads folder. There is no upload step. There are a few exceptions, and they are named explicitly in the next answer.

Which tools do reach the internet?

The ones whose entire purpose is to query the public internet: DNS Lookup, DNS Propagation Checker, SSL Checker, Website SEO Checker, Internet Speed Test and URL Shortener. A few tools also have an optional "import from URL" field. None of these should be described as fully offline or fully private.

Do these tools work offline?

Only the ones that register a service worker: Flatten PDF, Text to Handwriting, Online Notepad, Minesweeper, Poster Printer, Scientific Calculator, Salary Slip Generator, Rent Receipt Generator, Epoch Converter and the Offline Invoice Generator. Everything else needs connectivity on first load because the libraries come from a CDN — but your file still never leaves the device.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no login anywhere on the site. Settings are stored on your own device, never on a server.

Which country are the finance and tax tools built for?

India. EPF, ESI, state-wise professional tax, GST, income-tax slabs under both regimes, PPF, SIP and the lakh/crore number format are all India-first. Wherever a statutory rate applies, the page carries a "last reviewed" date and the rate stays editable.

Can I use the output commercially?

Yes. The output is yours, there is no watermark, and no attribution is required. Verifying generated documents — payslips, rent receipts, invoices, resumes — is your responsibility, as the Terms set out.
