Rent Receipt Generator for HRA Claim

Generate accurate, print-ready rent receipts for your HRA claim — amount in words, revenue stamp placeholder, and an HRA exemption calculator, all in one place.

🔒 No data ever sent to a server — everything is generated locally in your browser.
⚠️ This tool only formats receipts from the details you enter. Only generate receipts for rent you have actually paid. Submitting false rent receipts to claim HRA is tax evasion. Tax rules change — verify current requirements with the Income Tax Department or a chartered accountant.

Frequently asked questions

Is a revenue stamp needed on rent receipts?

A revenue stamp is typically required when a single cash payment exceeds ₹5,000. This tool marks a placeholder box on each receipt as a reminder — you still need to physically affix a real ₹1 revenue stamp and have the landlord sign across it.

Is landlord PAN mandatory?

Under income tax rules, if your total rent paid to one landlord in a financial year exceeds ₹1,00,000, you generally need the landlord's PAN to claim HRA exemption. This tool will warn you if PAN is missing and your entered rent exceeds that threshold.

Can I claim HRA without receipts?

Employers and tax authorities usually expect proof of rent payment, and receipts are the most common form. Rules can vary and change, so confirm current requirements with your employer's payroll/HR team or a chartered accountant.

What if I pay rent to my parents?

Paying rent to parents can be valid for HRA if it's genuine — actually paid, reported as income by them, and properly documented with receipts and, ideally, a rent agreement. Only generate receipts for rent you have genuinely paid.
