OMR Sheet Generator

An OMR sheet is a printed answer form where each question has a row of bubbles and the candidate fills exactly one of them. Because every bubble sits at a known position, the completed sheet can be marked quickly by eye against a key, or read by optical mark recognition software that detects which positions are dark.

Optical Mark Recognition. It is the technique of detecting marks — filled bubbles, ticked boxes — at fixed positions on a page, rather than reading handwriting. It is what makes large multiple-choice exams practical to grade.

Set the number of questions, choose how many options each question has, pick your paper size, and switch on whatever header fields you need. The preview updates as you type, so you can see the finished sheet before committing. When it looks right, print it or download a PDF.

Yes, and it is the default. Fifty questions with four options fits comfortably on a single A4 page in two columns alongside a roll number grid and an instructions block.

Yes. The tool supports 1 to 300 questions and works out how many pages are needed from the real millimetre dimensions of your chosen paper. A hundred questions typically fits one A4 page in three or four columns, or two pages with larger bubbles.

You can choose anything from 2 to 6 options per question. Two is useful for true/false papers, four and five are the common MCQ formats, and six covers matching-style questions. You can also override the bubble labels entirely — for example T and F instead of A and B.

Yes. A4 is the default. Letter, Legal and A5 are also available, and each can be set to portrait or landscape. The preview and the printed output both use the exact dimensions of the size you pick.

Yes. The Print button sends only the sheet pages to the printer — the settings panel, site header and everything else are excluded. The page size and orientation you chose are written into the print rules, so the browser does not have to guess.

Yes. The PDF is drawn as true vector graphics rather than a screenshot, so the bubbles stay perfectly circular at any zoom and the file remains small. You can also generate several blank copies inside a single PDF.

Yes. PNG export renders the current page at roughly 300 dpi, which is enough for printing or pasting into a document. SVG export gives you the sheet as a scalable vector file you can edit in a drawing program.

Yes. Name and class lines, a date line, a signature line and a photo box can each be switched on or off. There is also a roll number grid where each digit gets its own column of bubbles from 0 to 9, which is the standard encoding used in board and entrance exams.

Yes. The exam title, institution name, exam date, subject code and an optional form ID all appear in the sheet header. Leave any of them blank and the header closes up around the gap rather than leaving an empty line.

Yes. Choose an image and it appears in the header. The file is read in your browser using the FileReader API and is never uploaded anywhere. The aspect ratio is preserved so the logo is not stretched, and you can remove it at any time.

Yes, and it happens automatically. The tool measures how much vertical room is left after the header, footer and signature line, works out how many rows fit per column, and starts a new page when it runs out. Pages after the first carry a slim continuation header, so they gain more room for questions.

Yes, from one to five. Auto layout is on by default and picks a sensible number for your question count and paper width. If you set the columns yourself and ask for more than physically fit, the tool uses as many as fit and tells you why.

Bubbles come in small, medium and large, and row spacing can be compact, normal or spacious. Larger bubbles are easier to fill accurately but use more space, so they may push the sheet onto an extra page — the tool warns you when that is likely.

Circle, oval, square and rounded square. Circles are the default because they are the most familiar and the easiest to fill cleanly. Scanner-friendly mode forces circles regardless of what is selected.

Yes. Switch on the answer key, then tap the correct option for each question in the grid. The key is generated as a separate page at the end of the PDF with the correct bubbles filled in — it is never part of the student sheet, so there is no risk of handing it out by accident.

It is designed to be readable: bubbles are evenly spaced, consistently sized and printed in solid black on white. Scanner-friendly mode goes further by removing decoration and adding corner registration marks. That said, commercial OMR scanners are usually calibrated to their own vendor templates, so test a sample sheet with your specific scanner before running a real exam.

It strips the sheet back for machine reading: decorative elements and the photo box are removed, bubbles are forced to plain circles at a consistent size, and four solid registration squares are printed in the corners so alignment software has fixed reference points.

A4 for most of the world and Letter in the United States. Both give enough room for a roll number grid plus 50 to 100 questions on one page. Legal helps when you need many questions on a single sheet, and A5 suits short class quizzes.

Print at 100% or Actual Size, never Fit to Page. Scaling changes the physical size of every bubble, which matters if the sheets will be read by software calibrated to specific dimensions. Use plain white paper and check that a printed bubble is a clean outline rather than a filled or broken circle.

Because an OMR reader looks for marks at expected coordinates. If the browser shrinks the page to fit the printer margins, every bubble moves and shrinks by the same few percent, and a reader calibrated to the original layout can start missing them. Printing at actual size keeps the geometry exactly as designed.

Yes. On a phone the settings appear first and the preview below them, and the sheet keeps the true proportions of the paper rather than stretching to the screen. Use the zoom buttons to inspect small bubbles.

No. Everything — the layout, the preview, the PDF and the saved settings — happens inside your browser. No exam title, candidate field or logo is sent to any server. Settings are stored on your own device so the tool remembers them next time.

Yes. Settings are saved automatically on your device, and you can export them as a JSON file to share with a colleague or move to another computer. Importing that file restores the whole configuration, including the answer key.

It is an optional identifier printed in the header and repeated on later pages — useful when an institution runs several papers on the same day and needs to tell the sets apart. It is plain text, so you can use any coding scheme your exam office already uses.

Up to 100 blank copies in a single PDF. Each copy is labelled so an invigilator can tell them apart while distributing. Large copy counts make a bigger file, so give the browser a moment to finish.

The tool does not silently produce a broken sheet. If you ask for more columns than fit, it uses the number that does fit and shows a note explaining why, with the specific things to change — enable auto layout, reduce the bubble size, or switch to landscape.
