What is a WhatsApp Chat Analyzer?
A WhatsApp chat analyzer reads your exported WhatsApp conversation file and turns raw message logs into readable statistics — who sends the most messages, when you chat, favourite emojis, common words, and how fast each person replies. ToolAdda's analyzer runs entirely in your browser, so your private conversations never upload to a cloud server.
Whether you want to settle a friendly debate about who texts more, understand your messaging habits, review a group chat's activity, or export a JSON report for your records, this WhatsApp chat statistics tool gives you instant insights from a standard WhatsApp _chat.txt export.
How to Analyze WhatsApp Chat Online
- Export from WhatsApp — open the chat → menu → Export chat → Without media. Save the
_chat.txtfile. - Upload or paste — drag the file onto ToolAdda or paste export text directly.
- Set options — choose date format (auto, DD/MM, or MM/DD) and response window (12–48 hours).
- Click Analyze Chat — explore Overview, Senders, Activity, Emojis, Word Cloud, Response Time, Media, and Search tabs.
- Download JSON report — save a structured summary for your records.
How to Export WhatsApp Chat for Analysis
Android
Open the chat → tap ⋮ (three dots) → More → Export chat → choose Without media → save or share the .txt file. Android typically uses the format: DD/MM/YYYY, HH:MM - Sender: message.
iPhone (iOS)
Open the chat → tap the contact/group name at the top → scroll down → Export Chat → Without Media. iOS uses brackets: [DD/MM/YYYY, HH:MM:SS] Sender: message. Both formats are parsed automatically.

Who Texts More? Message Counter for WhatsApp
The most common question in any two-person chat: who sends more messages? ToolAdda's chat message counter ranks every participant by message count, shows share percentages in bar charts, and breaks down words, media, links, and conversation initiations per person. For group chats, see which members are most active and which lurk — all from the same export file.
WhatsApp Word Cloud & Top Words
The Word Cloud tab visualizes vocabulary patterns — larger words appeared more often (common stop words like "the", "and", "ok" are removed). Top Words lists exact counts. Useful for spotting inside jokes, recurring topics, project codenames, or how formal vs casual your chat language is over months or years of history.
WhatsApp Response Time Analyzer
Response time measures how long person B takes to reply after person A sends a message (within your chosen 12, 24, or 48-hour window). See average and median response times per person, plus fastest-reply pairs. Note: this is a statistical approximation — overnight gaps and busy days affect averages. Use it for fun insights, not as a relationship score.
Analyze Group WhatsApp Chats
Family groups, work teams, college friend circles — group exports include every participant as a separate sender. Compare message share across members, see who shares the most links or media, identify peak group activity hours, and search keywords across the entire group history. No participant limit beyond what WhatsApp includes in the export.
WhatsApp Chat Analytics for Privacy
Unlike cloud-based chat analyzers that upload your file to a server, ToolAdda processes everything locally with JavaScript in your browser. Your messages never leave your device. No account required. No data retention. Close the tab and the analysis clears from memory. Ideal when chats contain personal, financial, or work-confidential content.
WhatsApp Export Analyzer — Supported Formats
The parser handles iOS bracket headers, Android dash headers, multi-line messages (continuations without timestamps), system messages, deleted-message placeholders, and common locale date formats. If parsing fails, switch the date format dropdown between Auto-detect, DD/MM/YYYY (India, UK, EU), and MM/DD/YYYY (US). Always export Without media — media exports change file structure and increase file size unnecessarily for text analysis.
Mobile WhatsApp Chat Analysis
Export the chat on your phone, then open ToolAdda in Chrome or Safari, upload the saved _chat.txt, and view stats on mobile. Charts and tables adapt to small screens. Large exports (years of daily messaging) may take a few seconds to parse — keep the screen awake during analysis.
Download JSON Chat Report
Click Download JSON Report to export structured data: sender statistics, top words, emojis, hourly counts, response times, and metadata. Useful for archiving chat summaries, feeding into spreadsheets, or keeping a snapshot before deleting old conversations from your phone.
Why Choose ToolAdda WhatsApp Chat Analyzer?
